Chocolate Banana Bread

Does this qualify as a bread? Maybe just call it what it really is? - A yummy and healthy treat that nourishes and satisfies.



  • 3-4 ripe bananas, mashed

  • 4 eggs

  • 1/4 cup coconut oil, melted and cooled

  • 1/3 cup maple syrup or honey

  • 1 1/2 cups almond flour

  • 1/2 cup tapioca or arrowroot powder

  • 1/3 cup cacao or cocoa

  • 1 tsp. baking soda

  • 1 tsp. cinnamon

  • 1/2 tsp. salt

  • 1/2 cup toasted pecans or walnuts, chopped

  • 1/2 cup dark chocolate chips [I use Hu, Lily's or Bake Believe low sugar chips]


  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line a loaf pan with parchment paper.

  2. In a large bowl, mix together; bananas, eggs, coconut oil, maple syrup.

  3. In another bowl, mix together; almond flour, tapioca powder, cacao, baking soda, cinnamon and salt.

  4. Combine wet ingredients with dry ingredients. Add nuts and chocolate chips. You can reserve a few chips & nuts for top.

  5. Pour into parchment lined loaf pan and smooth top.Sprinkle with a few nuts & chips.

  6. Bake for 50-55 minutes, or until toothpick comes out clean.

  7. Allow to cool for 30 minutes before removing from loaf pan.

  8. Cut into 8 slices.
