Could you actually drink something that would do this? I'd say absolutely!



 

How Did a Smoothie Change My Life?

I just completed a 10-day health challenge with a group of people who wanted to jump-start their health journey. I personally joined them so I could benefit from this reboot... because drift happens.

What I mean by this.

We all have intentions to eat better, move more and take care of ourselves. But life can get in the way...

  • birthdays

  • vacations

  • holidays

  • new job

  • family

  • friends

  • finances

  • broken fingernail

As you can tell from my list, there are an amazing amount of reasons why we get distracted from our intention to make our health a priority.

60% of health outcomes are directly related to our social situations.

These "social determinants" are not directly related to our health, but they have a huge impact on what actually happens. This reminds me that finding easy ways to boost how we feel is essential in the pursuit of improving our health.

Do it Every Day.

That's why I maintain that this smoothie will change your life by providing your body with a fabulous fuel to begin your day well.

The essential ingredients include flax, hemp, and chia. These powerhouses of nutrition contain omega-3 fatty acids and fiber, which can help lower blood pressure, triglycerides, and cholesterol levels, and reduce inflammation.

Another great addition to this smoothie is both avocado and nut butter which provide healthy fats. Avocados are anti-inflammatory, helping the body to reduce inflammation, increases satiety, improve, heart function, digestion, and regulate our weight. Nutbutter is high in monosaturated fats, which can help to lower LDL cholesterol and raise HDL cholesterol.

Blueberries and cauliflower provide vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants which help to lower blood pressure, improve memory and support better heart function.

I love the ease of a daily smoothie because I can dump everything in the blender and in a less than a minute, breakfast is ready.

I'm fueled and satisfied and ready for whatever the day brings.

Change Your Life Smoothie. Makes 1 serving

Ingredients.

  • 1 cup milk or unsweetened nut milk [choose organic always]

  • 1 tbsp. chia seeds

  • 1 tbsp. flax seeds

  • 2 brazil nuts or walnuts

  • 1 tsp. cinnamon

  • 1 tbsp. organic *nut butter [nuts & salt only]

  • 1/4 of an avocado**

  • 1 scoop protein powder [I use Equip Prime Protein]

  • 1/2 cup frozen cauliflower rice

  • 1/2 cup frozen blueberries

  • 1/4 whole lemon-include peel [try this is makes the smoothie so much better]

  • cacao nibs, hemp hearts, bee pollen [for topping smoothie -optional]

Method.

  1. In a small bowl add chia & flax, brazil nuts and 1/3 cup water. Allow to soak while gathering ingredients.

  2. Add everything to a high speed blender and blend well.

  3. Pour into a large glass and sprinkle with hemp hearts, bee pollen,or cacoa nibs to encourage chewing which improves digestion.

  4. Drink daily for best results.

Notes.

Make sure the nut butter you choose is free of sugars, oils and those unpronounceable ingredients.

*Peanut butter usually contains added sugars, oils, and trans fats. They are one of the highest allergy foods and can contain toxins and mold. I encourage you to try an organic almond, cashew butter, or a nut butter blend like Nutzzo which is my absolute favorite!

**A suggestion was made to use those avocado cups from Costco instead of having to have fresh avocados on hand. 1/2 of a cup equals 1/4 of an avocado.
